POSTPONED - 2021-05-02 - "Reflections" poetry by Joe Bove in honor of National Poetry Month
On the Lawn of the Township of Ocean Historical Museum, 703 Deal Road, Ocean, NJ 07712
Sunday, May 2, 2021, 1:00 pm

On Sunday, May 2nd at 1:00 p.m. the Township of Ocean Historical Museum is pleased to present Joe Bove reading from his book of poetry entitled, "Reflections."

The poetry reading will be held under the tent on the north side of the Eden Woolley House.

Mr. Bove's inspiration comes mainly from everyday happenings.  His subjects are limitless; a reflection in a mirror, the descent into the basement in search of an object, feeding the birds, and other ordinary experiences that take on special meaning. Joe's interest in writing poetry started in college in the late 60s and arose from a need to express his inner thoughts and feelings. "Some people might do this through music, art, dance," said Joe, "I do it with words."

Joe is a member of The Ocean Players, a group that has conducted poetry readings at various venues, including the  Francis Asbury Manor, in Ocean Grove, as well as Chelsea at Shrewsbury for the senior residents. The Ocean Township Library and the Museum also hosted their World War I  poetry readings. Mr. Bove has acted in community theater, as well as in television commercials and movies.  Billy Collins is the poet that he enjoys reading the most, because he relates to his sense of humor, especially about subjects that are not, on the surface, particularly humorous.

This event is free and open to members of the Museum and the public.  Masks will be worn by attendees in compliance with the state COVID regulations. Please RSVP in order for us to maintain safe distancing of chairs.
