Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon is once again proud to host the County Clerk’s 27th Annual Archives and History Day on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robert J. Collins Arena at Brookdale Community College. The theme of this year’s Archives and History Day is “Monuments and Markers in Monmouth County,” a way to call attention to the numerous historical statues, signs, and symbols in our communities that commemorate Monmouth County’s storied past and peoples.
“We are honored to live in a county with a past as rich as ours and we appreciate the opportunity to host an event like Archives Day to present our history and our historic professionals to the public,” said Clerk Hanlon.
In addition to more than fifty exhibitors, representing historical societies and groups from across the County and New Jersey, the event will feature a keynote address from Monmouth University’s Dr. Richard Veit, a presentation of awards, and the unveiling of the namesake “Monuments and Markers in Monmouth County" exhibit.
The County Clerk’s Office is pleased to present two awards at Archives and History Day. The Jane G. Clayton Award will be presented to Marge and Paul Edelson of the Township of Ocean Historical Museum and the 2022 M. Claire French Award will be presented to Kay Harris of the Asbury Park Museum. Similarly, the Monmouth County Genealogy Society and the New Jersey Studies Academic Alliance will present their own awards.
